Construction Manager - Electrical (Field-Based, Heavy Travel)

Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Multiple U.S. Locations (Travel Required 80-100%)
Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000 Annually


Position Summary

The Construction Manager - Electrical is a field-based leadership role responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical construction projects across multiple job sites. This position requires extensive travel and on-site presence, with no office-based responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, team leadership, and project execution in dynamic, fast-paced environments.


Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Oversight

  • Manage all phases of electrical construction projects from mobilization to commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate material procurement, equipment logistics, and crew scheduling.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
  • Maintain and update project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support field crews and subcontractors across multiple job sites.
  • Assign tasks, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities.
  • Lead daily briefings and enforce accountability for safety and productivity.

Quality & Safety Assurance

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct regular quality control checks and rectify non-compliance issues.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement on all job sites.

Electrical Systems Management

  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Ensure all electrical work meets design intent and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Foreman or Construction Manager in electrical or solar construction.
  • MN Electrical Journeyworker or other state electrical license is required.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction site protocols.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple crews and job sites simultaneously.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, scopes of work, and technical documentation.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel up to 80-100% of the time, including overnight stays.

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 10/30
  • First Aid/CPR
  • RF Awareness
  • DOT Health Card (or ability to obtain)

Compensation & Schedule:

  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000 annually (based on experience)
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday with occasional weekends as needed
  • Travel: Up to 80% within Illinois and other states wihtin the US (overnight stays may be required)
